Hyland Designs is a home-based mail order business started in March of 1999 as an outlet for my years of designing and cross stitching for friends and family.

I started knitting as a child, learned to crochet as a teen, progressed to crewel kits, and was introduced to counted cross stitch by a fellow teacher. I decided to "experiment" (something science teachers like to do and she was teaching science at the time). I've been cross-stitching ever since - about 14 years now. I've slowed down on the stitching a bit since arthritis began to really affect my hands but I still love to create the designs for friends, family, and all my customers.

The desire to market my designs led me to take web design classes. I am certified in Advanced Web Design by Norwalk Community College.
